Yesterday I was standing in a Grade 10 classroom talking to students about my journey to become a published author. Sharing my message about grit, resilience, embracing failure, finding your gift and never giving up.
It reminded me of a short time ago when I was still contemplating how to get a book published. Could I do it? Would anyone read it? How should I share my message with the world?
Yet once I declared my quest, things fell into place. As author Paulo Coelho said, “When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.”
I found the right publisher, was assigned a supportive editor, secured a book signing, had friends and family buying and sharing and reviewing my book. I found my way into classrooms and board rooms. I met students and teachers and librarians and school administrators who believed in what I was doing and pointed me in the right direction.
I doubted myself. I judged myself. But the one thing I never did was stop trying. Once I made the decision to become a published author, I never let it go.
And as life coach Tony Robbins once said, “It is in your moments of decision that your destiny is shaped.”
What decision can we make today that will change the course of our journey? And what is one small thing we can do to move closer to our destination?
We have all we need to be the change we wish to see.
I love reading your posts. Very inspiring message.
Thanks so much!
