Last night I attended a gala for the Darling Home for medically fragile children.  It was an amazing event and it reminded me of the resilience of the human soul.  The families helped by this centre have children who need care 24 hours a day.  Every single day.

Even though there is pain and heartache and struggle, there is also happiness and beauty and acceptance and love.  Always love.

The Darling Home is a life-changer for these families.  It is a blessing that they value beyond measure.  It offers respite to parents and caregivers who rarely get a chance to take a break.  And it provides extraordinary sensory experiences to the children who visit.

What are the blessings in our own life?  Do we notice them?  Are we grateful for them?

Sometimes we are so busy with our ‘to do’ lists that we don’t notice the ‘ta da’ parts of life. The little magical things that make us smile or laugh or dream or think.  Because they are just embedded in an otherwise run-of-the-mill day.  Except that every day is not just another day.  It’s a gift.  And we should remember to be thankful for it and all the blessings that come with it.
