Thirty-eight years ago, on June 1st, 1980, CNN was launched. Before this time, the news was broadcast at a certain hour each day and if you missed it, you had to wait to find out what was going on. Ted Turner decided to change that.
He bought a down-and-out station in Atlanta in 1970 that showed old movies and reruns and transformed it into a global news show. People laughed at him and wondered who would watch the news at any hour of the day? But he persevered.
One of the first big broadcasts for the station was when CNN had live coverage of the Gulf War in 1991.
Now we can’t imagine not knowing instantaneously what is happening around the globe.
Ted Turner imagined a world that seemed impossible to many. And then he made it happen.
Author and speaker Sir Ken Robinson said, “Creativity is putting your imagination to work, and it’s produced the most extraordinary results in human culture.”
What out-of-the-box idea have you considered in your life? What action can you take to make it a reality? Your story might be something the whole world can’t wait to watch.
