A friend told me this week that a good mantra is, “Everything is working out.”
Not, “Everything is working out how it is supposed to.”
Those last five words attach expectations to the sentiment.
And expectations are what lead to disappointment.
If you expect nothing, everything is a gift.
The job you were let go from led to the opportunity of a lifetime.
That friend who drifted allowed you to decide what is important to you.
A medical scare reminded you about the importance of self-care.
Everything is working out.
If we embrace that thought, then the only thing that matters is the moment. Not what we think happened or what we think might happen.
What is happening right now is all there is.
Because in the end, this moment is our life.
