American president Franklin D. Roosevelt once said, “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.”  Fear can paralyze you.  Stop you from speaking up, trying something new, making a change.

But as an anonymous quote reminds us, “Amateurs built the ark.  Professionals built the Titanic.”

Just take a chance and walk through the fear.  Don’t wait until you think you know enough or have saved enough or have read enough or have asked enough questions.  There is never a perfect time to do anything in life.  Start a family, change jobs, move to a new place, do a renovation, take a trip.  A pro and con list can always be written and if we wait until there are no cons we will be waiting forever.

Don’t let fear stop you.

If you have a skill that inspires you, that you can practice for hours, that you receive compliments about, that makes a difference, use it.

Don’t be scared that you are an amateur.  Often the people who know less about a given subject can come up with creative solutions because they haven’t been trained on all the things that are impossible in that field.

What is one action you can take today to slice through the fear and move towards becoming more of yourself?
