Essayist and poet Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “Finish each day and be done with it.  You have done what you could.  Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can.  Tomorrow is a new day.  You shall begin it  serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.”

This is so important.

Anxiety comes from overthinking yesterday.  Could we have done more?  Why did we make that mistake?  Should we have taken a different path?

Wasted energy and unnecessary worry.  Nothing can come of it.  Best thing to do is focus on what we can do today and what we have learned from our journey.  And surround ourselves with people who believe in us more than we believe in ourselves.

As an anonymous meme I saw this week said, “We need to hang around people that throw water on the fires of our fears and throw gasoline on the passions of our dreams.”

The tribe who is fanning our flames as we set our life on fire.

So forget about yesterday and dream about tomorrow.  And today is the day for a clean slate on which to write the story we were meant to tell.
