Author Dani Shapiro said, “It is in the thousands of days of trying, failing, sitting, thinking, resisting, dreaming, ravelling, unravelling that we are at our most engaged, alert and alive.”

It’s the struggle that makes it worth it.  It’s the doubt that’s overcome.  It’s the vision becoming a reality.  It’s the rising from a fall.

During the chaotic years of being a mom to three young children, surrounded by laundry and dishes and mismatched Lego pieces, I remember my mother telling me I would miss the fingerprints on the windows when they were all grown up.  I never forgot that thought.

When life is chaotic and it seems like we are just treading water in the deep end, trying to catch a breath, we have to remember that we are growing and learning and making things happen.

As Persian mathematician and poet, Omar Khayyam, once said, “Be happy for this moment.  This moment is your life.”

So let’s continue to try, fail, dream and unravel.  Because that is when we are truly alive.
