When my body is exercised, I feel exorcised in a way. I feel like I’ve gotten rid of my daily demons and can start with a fresh slate.
And that muscle twinge that lasts through to the next workout reminds me that my body is a vehicle used to travel through life. It’s not something that needs to be perfect. It needs to be strong, full of fuel and rested.
How many times do we let the vehicle we know as our body break down, run out of gas and lose a tire? How many times do we wish we had a different make, model or design? How many times do we take the only thing we know we have for the rest of our life for granted?
Arianna Huffington, the founder of Huffington Post, just launched a new movement called Thrive Global with a mission to, “end the epidemic of stress and burnout by offering companies and individuals sustainable, science-based solutions to enhance both well-being and performance.” The goal is to help us all thrive living a life we love. A much-needed goal for all of us.
In a time when technology has given us the ability to do more than we ever could, we are also crashing at a faster rate than our electronics. Resetting ourselves is the only solution.
Go to bed a little earlier. Take a walk after dinner. Charge your phone outside your bedroom. Only answer emails during a certain time block. Eat nutrient-rich food that makes you feel good.
Small steps forward will make all the difference. As Jim Rohn once said, “Take care of your body. It’s the only place you have to live.”
