The second-biggest upset in Kentucky Derby history happened last weekend. A horse was pulled from the race the day before the event and another horse that was not meant to be in the race, Rich Strike, was put in.

Rich Strike’s odds of winning were eighty to one.

But I guess no one told the horse.

Rich Strike ran one and a quarter miles in 2:02.61. And won.

Could we win the race in life even if others tell us we can’t? Even if we’re not part of the short list? If we keep moving forward with the mindset that we just want to run better than we ran yesterday? Where might we end up?

Talent abounds, but races are won and lost in the mind.

That horse decided he was going to get there first. What if we decided that nothing could stop us either?
