The definition of selfish is “lacking consideration for others.” But many never put themselves first and it can cause sadness and sickness and general unhappiness. We can be selfish with ourselves.
Many times we will do anything asked of us. Except when the person asking is the voice inside our head. We will run ourselves ragged for others and then we crumble under the weight of it all.
Remember that you will be a better parent, spouse, friend and family member when your cup is full.
As Buddha said, “You, yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.”
So take time to rest, run, eat well, do a yoga class, meet a friend, read a book, have a bath, play a game, get a massage, or go for a walk. Whatever makes your heart sing.
Fill your own cup so you can pour your magic into the cups of others.
You are not selfish. You are self-aware and you deserve that love more than you know.
