Today is Halloween. A day when we dress up as someone else. It got me thinking about all the other times in life when we wear a mask and don’t let our true self shine through. The roles we play. And the lines we say.
Irish writer Oscar Wilde said, “Man is least himself when he talks in his own person. Give him a mask, and he will tell you the truth.”
Are we letting others see who we are inside or are we afraid that our authentic self will be rejected? Are we content with our job, our body and our relationships? Or are we hiding behind who society has dictated we should be?
Philosopher and psychologist William James said, “There is but one cause of human failure. And that is man’s lack of faith in his true Self.”
So say what you mean and mean what you say. Peel off the layers and find the true you. Show the world who you really are and spend your time doing what you truly love.
The best role you will ever play is the one you were born to play.
No one is you and that is your power. Now knock on some doors and see what treats you will be offered.
