Something about December

There is something about December.  The hustle and bustle.  The hot cocoa.  The sprinkling of powdered snow.  The sparkling lights.  The festive soirees.  The potential for mail that is handwritten.  The holiday tunes on the radio.  The excitement of friends and family coming together over food cooked with love.

As author Norman Vincent Peale said, “Christmas waves a magic wand over this world, and behold, everything is softer and more beautiful.”

As the countdown ticks away towards the special day, may we have gratitude for all that we have and all that is possible.  May we be thankful for our health and for our perfectly imperfect bodies that help us travel through our days.  Our sturdy feet that take us where we want to go, our brain that connects the dots and imagines new things and our heart that helps us make the decisions that are right for us.

It will pass in the blink of an eye and before we know it we’ll be sitting in front of an almost empty bowl of stuffing.  Let’s cherish each minute and make memories that we’ll remember forever.

Novelist Edna Ferber said, “Christmas isn’t a season, it’s a feeling.”  So let’s capture that feeling while it’s here, bottle it up and store it in our souls to be drawn on as needed.
