Olympian artistry

We just returned from the North American Irish Dance Championships held this year in Vancouver.  Thirty-five-hundred dancers and 20,000 family and friends descended on the city for a week full of Olympian artistry.  The gorgeous venue overlooked the Pacific Ocean and the first thing I noticed after the salt-water breeze was the air of expectation.  It was palpable. Grateful

I’m very grateful.  Grateful that we have a place to lay our heads tonight.  Grateful that my three kids are enjoying their school year and all the activities that go with it.  Grateful that my mom and dad cooked a delicious meal for us yesterday after we spent the weekend at a hockey rink for a tournament that we won.  I’m grateful for friends who accept my flaws, books that inspire me, walks that fuel me and dreams that keep me moving in the right direction. There are expectations and there are possibilities.  Expectations often lead to disappointment while possibilities are endless.

If we think we will win and we come second, we feel sad.  If we are open to the possibility of anything happening as long as we do our best, we feel accomplished. Continue reading
