Yesterday was a day of firsts for the United States government. One hundred women were sworn into the House of Representatives and six women into the Senate. The speaker of the house is also a woman… Nancy Pelosi. The first Native American women, the first Muslim woman, the first Palestinian-American woman also joined the team. March is Women’s History Month. There are so many strong and fearless women who should be honoured. From Susan B. Anthony who helped get women the right to vote, to Anne Frank, a young girl sharing her story about the Holocaust from a hidden room. From Marie Curie, the first person to win a Nobel Prize for her radiation research to Malala Yousafzai, the youngest Nobel Prize recipient, who survived being shot for speaking out against the Taliban in support of girls’ education.
