Entrepreneur Tim Ferriss toyed with getting an MBA after his undergrad. But instead, he took the $100,000 he would have paid in tuition and invested it in start-ups. He knew that he’d most likely lose it all. But he looked at it as the cost of learning the lessons he needed to learn. Just like you don’t get your tuition back after earning a degree. He lost money but he also learned a massive amount. Invaluable experience.
Now he’s worth $100 million.
Most people would not have advised him to do what he did. Society is set up a certain way and many move through it following the steps set out before them without question. However, another human being created those steps. Someone somewhere decided what the rules of the game would be. But that doesn’t mean there’s only one way to move through the world.
If you can pinpoint something that you believe in that others think is crazy, you should consider following that train of thought. Those who think differently make a difference.
Timothy Egart said, “The beauty of you is how you wear who you are.”
There’s only one you. No one else has lived what you’ve lived and knows what you know. Only you can connect the dots in your life to find your true purpose.
If we do what everyone else is doing, we’ll end up the same as everyone else. Don’t get too good at the menial stuff or you’ll miss out on the meaningful stuff.
How can you do things differently tomorrow? What do you believe that others think is crazy? Have you taken action in that lane?
If you do what you’ve always done, you’ll be who you’ve always been. It’s time to think outside the box. Your destiny awaits.
