What a few years it’s been. Who knew we could use unprecedented in so many situations? I mean, how do you prepare for a once in a lifetime pandemic? For changes to everyday life that have never happened in your memory.
And yet, here we are.
As we look forward to new chapters, it’s hard not to look back.
When I remember all the school council meetings, eight daily 15-minute van trips with the three kids buckled in, Halloween costumes, dance competitions, chaos and schedules and up-to-the-eyeballs everything, I realize it passed in the blink of an eye.
And those moments of madness were actually magic.
It’s quiet now.
That quiet I yearned for during the mayhem has arrived.
So maybe it’s finally time to realize that as author Annie Dillard said, “How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives.”
Whether you are gathered with friends and loved ones, or sitting in silence watching the stars tonight, here’s to you. To realizing you don’t have to change or get better or earn more or weigh less. You don’t have to strive for perfection. You just have to embrace that you are all you need, and your moment is now.
It will never be the right time. But your timing is always right.
