Yesterday I had the pleasure of speaking to 80 team members at a corporate lunch and learn about women who lead.  I shared my publishing goal of one hundred rejections and all the lessons about success, failure, grit and resilience I learned along the way.  I spoke about famous failures and regular folks who never gave up.

It was an honour to hear from the people who came up after the talk to get a copy of my book, The Treasure You Seek.  It was wives getting it for their husbands, husbands getting it for their wives, and parents getting it for their kids.  They shared stories about someone they knew who was struggling to find inspiration, going through a medical crisis, or trying to survive high school.  One lady gave me a big hug and exclaimed, “You just gave me life back!”

I left full of positive energy and inspiration.  I know how the right story can lighten my heart and help me see the light at the end of the tunnel.  And if I did that for just one person yesterday, it is a priceless gift.

May we all take a small step today towards making a dream come true.  As actress Marlee Matlin said, “You can do anything if you set your mind to it. Look out for kids, help them dream and be inspired. We teach calculus in schools, but I believe the most important formula is courage plus dreams equals success.”

And people of all ages have dreams.  We just need to add a little courage to help make them come true.
